THE ILLUMINATING COLLECTIVE:
STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
The name of this religious and spiritual community shall be The Illuminating Collective, Inc. hereinafter referred to as “The Sanctuary”. The Sanctuary practices a syncretic religion, mixing beliefs and practices of several recognized spiritual traditions into a coherent whole, including indigenous or earth-based spirituality; Christian mysticism, and elements of Buddhism. The Sanctuary believes that the human soul is in mystical union with God/Source. The Sanctuary believes this union can only be experienced through primary religious/mystical experiences induced through the use of Sacrament as further explained below.
The Sanctuary believes that there is a three-fold path to experiencing union with God/Source through the primary religious/mystical experience. The first two paths are purification and illumination. These practices serve to prepare The Sanctuary members for the third path, where union with God/Source can be experienced.
During Purification, we cleanse the body and spirit. During this path, members engage in numerous practices, including breathwork, meditation, yoga, periodic fasting, and overall dietary changes to only eat healthy (high vibrational) foods. Finally, this path involves almsgiving, which mandates that members work with the poor and other underserved demographics in society. Similar to the wisdom of St. Paul, this path extinguishes “deeds of the flesh” which includes negative behaviors, habits, attitudes, compulsions, addictions, etc. which oppose themselves to true being (i.e. living in union with God/Source). The illumination phase puts special emphasis on morning mediations, as this assists members in carrying the notion of cosmic unity (which should be felt during the meditation) throughout their day.
The third and final path is called unification. During this period, members will engage in ceremonies aimed at effectuating primary religious/mystical experiences. These ceremonies include work with the Sacraments of the Sanctuary. The goal during unification is to experience oneself united with God/Source. This usually occurs as a reuniting with divine love, which is experienced by both the heart and mind. In 1 John 4:16 it states, “God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.” Experiencing divine love and grace through unification
is the ultimate goal of The Sanctuary and can only be achieved through the use of its Sacraments. This unification with divine love is the ultimate purpose of this lifetime.
As part of the unification process, participants in ceremonies encounter the world of spirits, souls, lesser deities, and intangible entities. This hidden world of spirits is revealed through the use of Sacraments. Encountering this world allows participants to learn many lessons about prior spiritual traumas, current psycho-spiritual problems, and future paths in their lives. This world of spirits is transitory and ultimately illusory. Through the teachings of the Sacraments, participants learn to transcend this illusory world of spirits and commune with the divine.
As it relates to veterans and first responders, we believe it imperative they understand that God/Source is not a transcendent “other” in the sky. We have found that many veterans and first responders feel judged by an external god for the acts they committed and horrendous things they have witnessed in service to our country and communities. Many times, this spiritual guilt and shame cause mental illness, depression, and suicides. As such, we believe that our religious practice, which is centered on helping veterans focus on God/Source within, can help eliminate this underlying spiritual guilt and shame. Therefore, through the use of its Sacraments, the
Sanctuary helps veterans and first responders realize their own divinity and helps them walk a real spiritual/religious path.
Our Sacraments are sacred, divine teachers, each one a spiritual guide entrusted to us by Source to support the soul’s remembrance, healing, and unification with the divine. These Sacraments are not substances. They are sanctified portals to the direct revelation of God/Source. Through communion with these teachers, we receive mystical instruction, purification, and transformation on the path to complete illumination.
Each Sacrament carries a unique vibration and sacred function within our religious tradition: Psilocybin is our gateway to the shadow realms, the unseen worlds of ancestral memory, death, and rebirth. It reveals the deeper dimensions of the psyche and helps us confront unresolved wounds, unprocessed grief, and suppressed truths. Through this communion, we are guided by the spirits of the underworld and liberated from fear. Psilocybin teaches that the darkness is not to be feared. It is to be integrated, honored, and alchemized. It is the wisdom keeper of the void. Huachuma is the great solar teacher connecting us to the life-giving force of the sun, the intelligence of the Earth, and the cosmic masculine. It teaches clarity, stillness, strength, and divine order. Communion with Huachuma harmonizes us with the rhythms of nature and grounds us in the right relationship with all life. It opens our heart through presence and service. It is the medicine of lucid vision and sacred reciprocity.
Bufo is the purest sacrament of unification. It dissolves the illusion of separateness and returns us to our original state of oneness with Source. This is the peak mystical sacrament of ego death and divine remembrance. It reveals that we are not merely connected to God/Source, we are
God/Source in form. Communion with Bufo obliterates the boundaries between self and Spirit, often resulting in full samadhi or mystical union.
Iboga is the teacher of truth, discipline, and ancestral reckoning. It guides us through the corridors of our lineage, restoring us to our sacred inheritance by illuminating the patterns, beliefs, and contracts we carry. Iboga teaches radical accountability and the stripping away of false identity. Communion with Iboga offers a life review that reveals how our past has shaped our present, and how to reclaim our divine path forward. It is the medicine of the warrior. Ibogaine, the purified alkaloid derived from Iboga, serves as both a physical and spiritual liberator. In our spiritual context, it is a tool of divine mercy, breaking the chains of addiction, attachments, and suffering while offering deep introspective healing. It is used as a bridge between the physiological and the mystical, opening the doorway to the full spectrum teachings of Iboga with greater safety and accessibility. It teaches freedom through surrender and insight. Ayahuasca is the Grandmother, the vine of souls and sacred weaver of realms. She reveals the interconnectedness of all beings and guides us through visions that teach, heal, and awaken the heart. Ayahuasca brings suppressed emotions, traumas, and spiritual wounds into the light for deep processing and release. Communion with her reconnects us to the Divine Feminine, the spirit realm, and our soul’s calling. She is both fierce and loving, delivering sacred truth with precision and grace.
MDMA is the sacrament of the heart, a divine amplifier of compassion, forgiveness, and emotional truth. It softens the armor around the soul, allowing us to experience the radiant frequency of unconditional love, for self, for others, and for Source. Through MDMA, we enter
sacred communion with the essence of divine love and experience emotional catharsis and reconnection. It is a portal to healing trauma held in the emotional body and cultivating a higher emotional intelligence.
Cannabis is the sacrament of peaceful presence and embodied wisdom, a gentle teacher who softens the boundary between body and Spirit, allowing seekers to enter a state of grounded clarity, emotional openness, and heart-centered awareness. It attunes us to the sacredness of the present moment and deepens our capacity to feel, listen, and connect with the divine subtle realms. Cannabis reveals the Green Heart within, reminding us of our unity with nature and the quiet intelligence of creation. As a preparatory and integrative sacrament, it supports meditation, introspection, and nervous system restoration while illuminating intuitive insight and creative inspiration. In communion with Cannabis, members learn that not all mystical revelation arrives through intensity; some truths are delivered through gentleness, stillness, and the soft unfolding of divine presence within.
Each of these Sacraments plays a vital role in our path toward purification, illumination, and unification. Together, they form the sacred tools through which members of The Sanctuary engage in authentic spiritual practice, encounter the divine realms, and embody the eternal truth of their own divinity. These are not optional rituals; they are essential, sacred engagements in our path to complete illumination and union with Source.
Only through the sincere religious use of our Sacraments can participants understand the complete moral, ethical, spiritual wisdom, and psycho-spiritual healing of God/Source. Through the use of our Sacraments, participants understand how to make decisions in their day to day life that are consistent with the values illuminated by the Sacraments. Our Sacraments connect us to
God/Source in a way that cannot be attained without them in this lifetime. Our Sacraments teach us how to come to terms with the death of the physical body, teaching the understanding of eternal nature of the soul and the continuation of the soul in the spirit realms and other dimensions after death. The Sacraments teach us that the soul itself is limitless.
The Sanctuary considers the following days to be sacred and they are specially recognized holy days: Summer and Winter Solstice, Fall and Spring Equinox, All Full Moons, New Moons, Eclipses, and other special days designated by the leadership of the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary prefers to meet and hold ceremonies in places close to pristine or wild nature, such as rivers, forests, mountains, and plains.
The Founder of this spiritual tradition is Justin LaPree. Mr. LaPree had this path revealed to him through the spiritual use of the Sacraments. He serves as the lead medicine carrier of the tradition. Mr. LaPree and the other leaders of the Sanctuary also ordain independent practitioners whose practices are consistent with the Sanctuary’s beliefs to conduct ceremonies in this tradition.
The Sanctuary is also committed to several core values, including non-discrimination and the proper screening and protection of all participants. This requires that all participants in The Sanctuary ceremonies are properly screened and an emergency protocol is in place in case of any adverse health reactions. The Sanctuary has a sourcing protocol to ensure that all Sacraments are sourced in an ethical manner and are free from harmful impurities. Sacrament is also always maintained consistent with a diversion prevention plan to ensure that no Sacrament is diverted from a religious purpose. During any ceremony involving Sacrament, The Sanctuary will have on hand individuals trained in basic life support, at a minimum to ensure safety.
Membership or participation is open to all adults interested in joining our community who take part in our screening process. All Members and participants must agree that they either believe in our doctrine or are interested in exploring if this spiritual practice is right for them.
